APPELLATION GIGONDAS CONTROLLEDGEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION: extreme north of the appellation. Terraces located at the localities “Poncet, Thomas, Les Pallières and Terrasse du Diable”. This selection plot comes from vineyards whose altitude is between 250 and 400 m. For the most part, these are independent plots, small in size and surrounded by woods.AREA: the estate has 135 ha in one piece, 25 of which are planted with vines and 110 in wood (pine and oak). For the “Terrasse du Diable” blend, around 40% of the vineyard surface are used.SOIL AND BASEMENT: the area is cultivated in terraced stairs on most from the surface, due to the very steep relief. The ground, partly covered with scree of rocks limestone from the Dentelles de Montmirail, is very shallow and rests on a very compact layer of red clay. The density of rockslides increases with altitude.GRAPES: grenache noir 90%, mourvèdre 5%, clairette 5%.AGE OF THE VINES: 45 years on average.VINIFICATION: manual harvest with double sorting in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the cellar, light crushing and selective destemming, traditional fermentation of 25 to 30 days in concrete and wooden vats at controlled temperatures.Pressing in a pneumatic press, systematic malolactic fermentation.AGING: 20 months in French oak barrels of 60 hectoliters.Bottling without fining or filtration.PERSONALITY AND AGING: in its youth, the “Terrasse du Diable” cuvée carries with it the minerality, the freshness and the sometimes too marked tannins of the terroirs altitude. Light crushing and 100% destemming, fermentation traditional 20 to 30 days in concrete vats under controlled temperatures. Pressing in a pneumatic press, systematic malolactic fermentation.MATURING: in 50 hectoliters casks.Bottling with a light filtration at 1 year.PERSONALITY: the nose is serious, deep, slightly liquorice.In the mouth, we discover the spices of this land, mixed with scents of garrigue. Côtes du Roussillon – Mas de la Devèze – Malice – 2017

Simply excellent as an aperitif, it will also go very well with salads, grills, savory pies, etc… A rosé to enjoy all year round … Harvest : harvested mid-September by hand. The grapes were then stored in the cold to preserve  maximum freshness and aromas. Grape variety : 40 % Syrah, 60 % Grenache noir. Yield : 40 hl/ha Terroir : clay-limestone. Winemaking : direct pressing of the cold harvest. 48 hours pre-fermentation maceration. Tasting notes : beautiful pale color. The nose is expressive. On the palate, it is very greedy with lots of freshness and beautiful notes of red fruit.
